More on the FDA: The FDA is an integral body that comprises of tonnes of data regarding medical devices their recalls, threats, security failures etc. It also provides checklists of organizations and manufactures for providing safety and security. The relevance of FDA has been immense in most of the works in medical device security. However, the FDA has no legal remit from Congress to directly regulate privacy!! The following readings provide analysis of the FDA databases along with the involvement of FDA in research.

  1. This is very helpful. Based on these readings, do you think the FDA is doing a good job of monitoring risks of medical devices?

  2. Hi Dr.Suzie,

Yes, the FDA is keeping up to data with the field of medical device security. As a matter of fact a researcher from University of Michigan is a part of the FDA to push medical device security and safety which forms the connection between research and the government. The FDA website is elaborate and incorporates several/almost all elements of medical device safety.

  3. Hmm. You showed me the FDA website. Is that where found the U of M researcher info? It's encouraging that they are allowing others access to help them address medical device security and safety. Any idea how many people at the FDA are working on this? Or how many researchers are involved in helping them?
